HE Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma

Hope Uzodimma was born on December 12, 1958, in Omuma, Imo State, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian politician and the current Governor of Imo State. Uzodimma is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) political party.
Uzodimma began his political career in the Second Nigerian Republic, joining the ruling National Party of Nigeria (NPN), where he became the Imo State youth leader in 1983. In the 1990s, with the aborted transition to the Third Nigerian Republic, Uzodimma featured prominently as a member of the United Nigeria Congress Party. In 1999, after the return to democracy, Uzodimma joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he served as a member of the party’s National Caucus, National Executive Committee and on the Board of Trustees, at various times between 1999 and 2017.
Uzodimma was elected Senator for Imo West constituency in April 2011 and served until June 2019. During his time in the Senate, he served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs and Excise. He was also a member of several other committees including Banking and Finance; Culture and Tourism; Aviation; Police Affairs; and Power.
On January 14, 2020, Uzodimma was declared winner of the 2019 governorship poll in Imo State by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. The court nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha as governor and declared Uzodimma as the duly elected governor.
Uzodimma is married to Chioma Uzodimma and they have seven children together. He is a devout Catholic and has been conferred with several chieftaincy titles including Ochinanwata 1 of Orlu Senatorial Zone by HRH Eze Cletus Ilomuanya.
